The theme of the four seasons was chosen to suggest the continuing and perennial nature of the Church. The changes of season are represented by changes of colour. The circle is used as an emblem of the earth and of earthly existence. Reference is made to the cross of Saint Andrew, the Patron Saint of Scotland.
