00APRIL - The Dear Green Place

The colour of the banners is warming up with the coming of spring. The sun is seen at the top with the finial at the east end of Charles Rennie Mackintosh's masterpiece, Glasgow School of Art.

The image below designed by the embroiderer, Lindi Richardson shows a montage of images about Glasgow parks. The name Glasgow comes from an old Scots word Glaschu which translates as Dear Green Place. This is appropriate as the city has a greater area of open green spaces and parks than any other city in Britain. All the activities associated with parks are illustrated from walking babies and dogs to kissing in the bushes. The dogs and cats are portraits of many beloved pets.
